A mensagem vem num inglês estropiado e diz que o destinatário acaba de ganhar um milhão de dólares.
É mais uma versão cibernético-holandesa do popular 'conto do bilhete premiado'.
A vítima em potencial deve manter sigilo absoluto a respeito de prêmio e pagar, antecipadamente, entre 200 e 500 euros para receber o dinheiro. No dia 24 de setembro de 2003, essa antecipação correspondia a um valor entre R$669,00 e R$1.672,00. Nada muito significativo se comparado com o valor do suposto prêmio :)
Mais uma vigarice baseada na ganância da vítima. Se alguém jamais comprou um bilhete de loteria, por que viria a ser comunicado do prêmio de um milhão de dólares?
Quem se arriscar a receber o prêmio, vai perder os euros e os reais pagos aos golpistas. Segundo The Register, são nigerianos, residentes em Amsterdam, que aplicam o golpe.
Página de uma dessas 'empresas financeiras' holandesas, a Fortune Trust Finance & Securities, chama a atenção pelo amadorismo. Ao movimentar o cursor do mouse sobre a página, surgem letrinhas que seguem o cursor e indicam o mês, o dia e a hora. Coisa de blog de crianças e não de uma empresa. Uma das versões do golpe tem como remetente microsoft incoporation e diz que seus patrocinadores são MICROSOFT OFFICE, MICROSOFT WORD, MICROSOFT CO-OPERATIONS UK, MICROSOFT CO-OPERATIONS ASIA, MICROSOFT CO-OPERATIONS, NETHERLANDS, Lloyds BANK UK, CITIPAKCOURIR AND PORTLANDCOURIER. Mistura nomes de produtos com nomes de empresas para tentar convencer a possível vítima.
